The Sulong Theatre presents a family friendly production of Eating with Lola by Catherine Hernandez.

Eating with Lola is part of the Toronto Fringe’s Next Stage Theatre Festival and takes place in Factory Studio Theatre at 125 Bathurst St. @ Adelaide.

Production Summary
Lola (“Grandmother” in Filipino) is bedridden and sick; she has to be spoon fed by her granddaughter, Grace. But it wasn’t always like this. Over the course of her final meal on earth, Lola explains how it was always her job to find food for her family– even if that meant stealing it.

Eating with Lola, a new play by Dora Nominated playwright Catherine Hernandez [Singkil], makes its world premier at the 4th Edition of The Next Stage Theatre Festival this January 2011. Catherine Hernandez stars in this well-crafted one-woman puppet show under the direction of Puppetmongers’ Co-Artistic Director Ann Powell. Toronto Theatre’s “season of the puppets” [Billy Twinkle, Hard Times, Madhouse Variations] continues from the dinner table to the live stage with this oral history that transcends continents and decades.
