Come out and join the many people attending the Launch Party of The Kapisanan Centre’s (Toronto) new website and exhibit opening for Pasalubong, Pabaon, Padala: The Story of the Filipino Diaspora on Saturday, April 03, 2010 at 7pm.

Kapisanan Centre Event Details:
When: April 3rd @ 7pm
Where: 167 Augusta Avenue in Kensington market, Toronto@ the Kapisanan
What: Relaunch of Kapisanan website to www.kapisanancentre.com and art exhibit opening

This is a free event with Live musical performances by Tonka Puma, Maylee Todd, Jeremy Glenn, and Rod Skimmins with refreshments & Filipino tapas

The exhibit will run for 4 weeks until end of the 1st week of May.

Here is your boarding pass for Kapisanan Centre’s launch of their new website, happening April 3rd.

Consider it your passport to everything Filipino, from arts to language, food to fun. A virtual doorway into everything you want to know about this fascinating and multi-faceted culture that’s making waves in every gallery, every theatre you know.

This massive online experience is one-of-a-kind and involved numerous acclaimed Filipino artists, designers and coordinators. This online portal will allow the Filipino Diaspora to keep in touch, keep their culture alive and mentor future generations, AROUND THE WORLD.

“This website is created with the generous support of the Department of Canadian Heritage through Canadian Culture Online. The mandate of this funding program is to create an online ‘gateway’ into Filipino culture in Canada,” says Executive Director of Kapisanan Centre, Caroline Mangosing. “We are proud to represent Filipino culture to Canada and the world through the content we are creating. The site will showcase media content created by young Filipino-Canadians under the guidance of professional mentors.”

Thanks to this online portal, ANYONE AROUND THE WORLD of ANY BACKGROUND can:

Shop for crafts and art made by Filipino artists (such as fashion “it” girl Melissa Clemente and more!)

Learn a phrase or two in Filipino (or for younger generations of Filipinos abroad: keep up with their Filipino language skills)

Browse the dozens of events here at the Kapisanan Centre (or watch it online in our Livestreaming events!).

Mentor Filipino youth or find a Filipino mentor online or in person.

Learn more about Filipino culture, history and its community members at our many online forums.
